Why Your Business Should Have an Under Counter Money Safe

Do you work in retail, hospitality or another business that handles a lot of money? If so, you need somewhere you can store cash and valuables quickly, safely and discreetly. One of the best ways to keep cash and valuables safe is with an under counter money safe. By using a deposit safe, you can relax knowing you can safely deposit all funds in a secure safe away from prying eyes. That said, what are the different types of under counter money safes on offer and what are their benefits?

Cash Safe Boxes & Restuarant Safes

Types of Under Counter Money Safes

When it comes to safe cashiers there are several options available:

  • Drawer safes for large amounts of cash or bulky valuables. These feature a large front loading drawer that you can open, insert anything into then quickly close.
  • Letter slot safes for smaller cash deposits and envelopes. A slimmer and more efficient design that houses cheques, papers, bank notes as well as loose change.
  • Rotary drawer safes that allow for large deposits of cash or change. Just load all valuables into the cylinder shaped drawer then close it.
  • Counter deposit safes are compact and sit hidden beneath the counter. These safes use as little space as possible making them perfect for quick use in small areas.
  • Underfloor deposit safes for those businesses that want to be as discrete as possible with their money. These are often built into the floor and have a chute into which you can place valuables.

The Benefits of Under Counter Money Safes

  • When it comes to many types of cash drawers and registers, thieves can easily break them open and raid them. If valuables are kept in a dedicated under counter safe that only you have access to, then thieves will be unable to gain access. This way you can keep all cash and valuables safe until you transfer them to the bank.
  • While no one wants to think that their employees could be stealing from them, the truth is that it sometimes happens. While it may be easy and tempting to steal from registers and tills, under counter safes ensure that all funds are off limits even to your staff.
  • By taking the right security measures you will help reduce your insurance premiums. In addition, having the extra security offered by under counter safes ensures you will have better support for any claims made should the need arise.
  • No one wants to be anxious about the safety of their valuables at work. Therefore, the reinforced security offered by under counter safes will give you the peace of mind you need knowing everything is safe.

How to Move a Heavy Safe, and Why You Should Leave it to the Experts

If you’re moving home or relocating your business, you won’t want to leave your safe behind. After all, your safe is a valuable, useful piece of kit.

However, most of the time safes are tough, heavy, and difficult to move. This is especially the case if they’re built into your walls. Of course, this is great for keeping the contents secure, and preventing theft of the safe itself. But these features do make it difficult to know how to move a heavy safe.

So how do you move these heavy, cumbersome objects? The answer to that question involves preparation, precaution, and some professional help.

Safe Removal & Relocation - How to Move a Heavy Safe

Preparation, Precautions and Professionals

If you plan to move a heavy safe, there are a few things you should do first. Firstly, remove all your items from inside the safe. During movement, anything inside could be prone to damage. With this done, you should also make sure to lock shut the safe door. If the door swings open during the move it could cause damage to property, or an injury.

Next, take precautions with the obstacles that stand between the safe and the way out of your property. Beware of door frames, walls, flooring and furniture which could all sustain damage if they come into contact with the heavy safe. You should avoid wearing jewellery and baggy clothing, as they can catch on obstacles.

To move the safe itself, you’ll need equipment like a dolly, straps, and of course a van that can accommodate the weight. This is why if you plan to move a safe, you should contact a professional team.

Your team of movers will guide you through how to move a heavy safe. They’ll begin by moving your safe onto the dolly, securing it with straps and moving it through a pre-planned path to their dedicated vehicle. Your preparation, and the precautions taken by the professionals will move your safe without damage.

What Can a Mini Safe Be Used For?

Not all safes need to be large or bulky; in some cases, a mini safe is a much more useful option. Mini safes help keep valuable items safe without taking up much space. In fact, small money safes keep your most valuable items out of the way and hidden from potential thieves. There are several options available when it comes to small home safes. So, here is what to look for in a new safe along with the various ways you can use a small safe.

What Can I Put In A Mini Safe?

Any of the following items are suitable for storing in a mini safe:

  • Cash and jewellery, especially priceless family heirlooms.
  • Valuable documents such as wills, passports, and birth certificates.
  • Insurance information, financial documents and medical documents.
  • Photo collections and diaries.
  • Any other confidential information.

Features of Small Safes

When considering your own small money safe you should look for one with the following features:

  • Fire resistant material to protect all valuables in the case of a blaze.
  • Water resistance in the case of flooding, or if sprinklers go off in the case of fire.
  • Impact resistance should the mini safe get hit or dropped.
  • The ability to fix the safe to a wall or into a floor space to keep it well hidden and less easy to access.
  • A lock type that offers the right amount of security for your needs.
  • Enough internal space to store all the valuables that you need to keep secure.

Benefits of Small Home Safes

There are a number of advantages to having a mini safe of your own:

  • Where space is an issue in the home, these compact safes are much easier to place in any location that suits you.
  • They are much easier to conceal than regular sized safes. You can easily hide them behind a bookshelf or inside a cupboard.
  • They are a much more practical choice for many people. You will still get the same level of security as a large safe, but will require less space.
  • If you need to move your safe to another area you can easily do so, so long as it is not bolted in place. This works well if you are moving or renovating your home.
  • The smaller the safe, the less you will need to pay overall, and it will be a sound long term investment.

Five Things You Didn’t Know About Safes

Most of us think we know all about safes, and some of us will know quite a lot. But here at Trident Safes we’ve found some interesting facts that you might not have come across before.

For example, did you know that the oldest lockable box ever found dates back to the 13th century BC? Discovered in a Pharaoh’s tomb, it was locked by the use of moveable pins. Read on for five more fascinating facts all about safes.

1. Made in England

All About Safes

Luxury safes have been around for quite some time now. But the first safe as we know it was made right here in England. Charles and Jeremiah Chubb (the name may be familiar!) came up with a burglar-resistant safe in the early 19th century.

Based in Wolverhampton, they’d been making locks since 1818. But after receiving their patent in 1835, it was all about safes.

2. A safe for the future

You can use a safe to secure whatever you like, and on Spitsbergen they’ve chosen seeds. This Norwegian island is home to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, where more than 500,000 plant species are stored.

Surrounded by freezing ocean, the vault is deep enough to survive a nuclear attack or an earthquake. And at 430 feet above sea level, it’ll need an awful lot of climate change to flood it. The three seed vaults are also secured by four heavy steel doors.

3. Opening time

If you know all about safes, you’ll know that many banks guard against robbery by using time delay locks. This means that even when the combination is used, the lock will not immediately open. In other words, the delay can be pre-set for up to 99 minutes, allowing time for police or security to arrive.

The same principal is used on safes with a time lock. That means the safe can only be opened during certain time slots, which are chosen by the user.

4. Turning up the heat

Some of the first fireproof safes used stone, cement, clay and even wood to protect the contents. Needless to say, some of these were more effective than others!

Many fire safes are now made with perlite, a volcanic glass formed by magma as it cools. Perlite is used because it’s extremely good at resisting heat – which is exactly what you want from a fireproof safe!

5. Most expensive safe

The world’s most expensive safe is reckoned to be the Narcissus, made by German company Döttling. It was designed by Karl Lagerfeld, with a limited production of only 30.

With a price tag of around £240,000, it’s almost two metres high and weighs a hefty 800 kilos. Its high-tech owner recognition locking system means it can be opened with a wave of the hand; which is handy.

At Trident Safes we offer a range of safes for both commercial and domestic use, from refurbished to brand new. Browse our range online or contact us for more information.

Reasons Why a Small Jewellery Safe is Handy

It’s surprising how much difference a small jewellery safe can make to your peace of mind. If you own jewellery or other small but valuable items, you’ll want to make sure that they’re kept safe. But people who steal are experts at finding ‘safe’ places in your home, so why leave your valuables at risk?

At Trident Safes we’re experts at making safe places in your home a reality. From documents and antiques to diamond earrings, it’s our mission to keep your possessions secure. So, read on to discover more about the benefits of a luxury home safe.

Small Jewellery Safe

When do you need a safe?

If you own expensive jewellery, luxury home safes are not an extravagance. On the contrary, securing your valuable items is a necessity. Professional thieves are good at gathering information, and many burglaries are targeted. If it’s known that you own a safe, they’re likely to pick an easier target elsewhere.

Although insurance will help with financial loss, the items themselves are often irreplaceable. This is especially true when jewellery has been handed down through a family. The only real insurance for such objects is to prevent them being lost in the first place. And the best way to do that is by securing them in a small jewellery safe.

Peace of mind

A small jewellery safe will help you rest easy at night or when you’re away from your home. You can feel safe in the knowledge that your precious items are secure and protected. Why expose yourself to anxiety when an efficient, cost-effective solution is readily available?

A safe for your jewellery is also the ideal way to keep your valuable items organised and in one place. Avoid panic over that mislaid necklace by knowing exactly where to find it. You’re not only buying a jewellery safe, but also peace of mind, and that, too, is valuable.

Designed for the job

With Trident Safes, you can choose a small jewellery safe that is designed specifically for the task. We have options that feature a soft interior lining to protect delicate and valuable items from damage. We also offer bespoke safes with the required number of winders and drawers for jewellery or expensive watches.

Hand-made in Britain and approved by the Association of Insurance Surveyors, our luxury safes are rigorously tested. Only then are they certified for their outstanding strength and security.

Security with style

When we think of safes, we tend to imagine unattractive metal boxes. At Trident Safes, we understand that many people are looking for security with style. That’s why we offer a huge range of elegant paint and wood-style finishes.

Handles are available in three designs. And if you want your safe plated in 24 carat gold, that’s not a problem. For the interior, you can choose a mix of wood veneer, luxurious leather or stylish fabric.

Keeping Your Guests’ Valuables Safe

All hotel guests, whether they are regular visitors or first-time guests, will want to be sure that their valuables are safe in their room. Not only is the risk of theft or damage upsetting for your guests, but it can also lead to litigation and a loss of reputation for your hotel. That is why it is crucial that you choose the best quality hotel safes to ensure all guests’ valuables remain secure during their stay. Hotel safes are a must-have investment for your business and will provide numerous benefits for you and your guests. So, here are the main reasons why you should invest in a top-quality hotel safe and what features you should look for.

Benefits of Hotel Safes

As many guests are likely to bring valuables with them during their stay, offering them the right security is crucial. Selecting the best hotel safes will provide the following benefits:

  • Best Hotel SafesYour guests will want somewhere that will safely store their valuables when they are out of the room. At the same time, they will want a security system that allows them to easily access their valuables whenever needed. Hotel safes allow guests to have the right amount of control over their valuables’ security. In this way, guests can feel confident in going about any plans they have during their stay.
  • Guests will be aware that various staff, especially cleaners, will have access to their rooms during the day. If any valuables were to go missing, chances are they will point the finger of blame at the cleaners, staff members, or other guests. Hotel safes help avoid the risk of such ugly scenarios, protect the reputation of your business, and keep you safe from liabilities.
  • Hotel safes protect against more than just theft and vandalism. They can be built from tough materials that can also help protect valuables from the risk of fire or water damage. The best quality safes will be able to protect a guest’s valuables from a wide range of environmental risks.

Overall, the best hotel safes improve the confidence of your guests in your hotel services. This in turn increases both the value and prestige of your hotel.

Features of the Best Hotel Safes

There are a number of features you should consider when purchasing hotel safes:

  • What size of safe are you likely to need? Consider your clientele and what sort of valuables they are likely to store. You may need only a compact safe for small valuables or something larger, depending on your guests’ needs.
  • Many hotel safes now feature electronic keypad coding. This is much easier for your guests than dial safe locks, and more secure than using locks and keys. That said, it is important to consider any security override measures should your guests forget their electronic code.
  • Consider the material the safe is made from. Is it strong enough to prevent anyone from forcing their way in? Can it protect against environmental hazards such as fire and flooding? Consider all potential risks before making your purchase.

Safety box For Documents

A safety box for documents isn’t high on the priority list for most of us. But, there are quite a few reasons why it could be a very good idea. For example, it’s been estimated that a burglary takes place every 40 seconds in the UK; and according to Government figures, fire and rescue services attended 153,314 fires in the year ending September 2020.

These are frightening statistics, and certainly worth taking into consideration if you have documents you need to keep safe.

Safety Box For Documents

Important documents

So, what kind of items are so important that you have to keep them in a safety box for documents? The truth is, there are quite a few. Though we store much online nowadays, in many cases hard copies are still necessary. Generally, you can replace items such as passports, birth certificates and financial documents. But the information contained in them would be invaluable to an online scammer. That could cost you dearly.

There are other documents that would benefit from the protection offered by home safes. These include items such as wills, tax returns, legal documents and contracts that you’ve signed. Again, online storage is useful, but a lost or destroyed contract could be a problem.

Safe versus drawer

Most of us have a drawer somewhere for important paperwork. The problem with that is, intruders know just where to look. Most burglaries take place within just a few minutes. So, the more secure you make your documents, the less likely they are to be taken.

Another problem with drawers is that they offer little or no protection if there’s a fire. In contrast, a good quality safe or safety box for documents is designed to offer exactly that. They are tested for their ability to resist heat and water damage. That additional protection could save you quite a lot of time and money.

Installing a safe

So you’re thinking about protecting valuable items at your home or business with a safe. In that case, one of the most important things to consider is where to install it. If you’re concerned about theft, avoid placing it where it can easily be seen. Cupboards and wardrobes are a good idea, and the safe should be fixed to either the floor or a wall, this is also an insurance requirement. Disguise it as part of the cupboard if you can.

To give better protection against fire, a corner between two outside walls is advisable. Somewhere on a ground floor is also better, as the surface will be less likely to give way. In areas prone to flooding, it’s a good idea to install your safe box for documents above ground level.

Trident Safes

You’ll also need a safe to fit the space you have available within your home or business. Here at Trident Safes, we have an extensive range of safes available in a variety of sizes. Why not take a look at the many options we can provide? And if you need any more information or advice, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

The Benefits of Having a Room Safe

For high-value items that you want to keep close at hand, a home safe is the perfect solution. It might be something you haven’t thought about before; and it may even seem like an expensive option to some people. But, there are many benefits to having a secure place in your home for the things you value most.

At Trident Safes we have years of experience within the safe and vault industry. During that time we’ve built up an enviable reputation for our knowledge and customer care. Read on to discover the significant benefits of having somewhere to keep your valuables safe.

What would I use A Safe for?

Room Safe

Documents

We all have paperwork that we need to keep, whether we want to or not. This could include insurance, legal or financial documents. You also need to keep personal documents safe, such as passports and birth certificates. Getting new ones can be expensive and time consuming.

Valuables

Most of us possess belongings that are worth something and may need storing in a valuables safe. This could be jewellery that’s been handed down to you, or even a rare coin collection. The thing to remember is, you can’t replace items like this.

Cash

Many of us make contactless payments these days. But, some people like to keep some cash to hand in case of unexpected emergencies. Cash, whether lost or stolen, is generally gone for good. A cash safe will help keep your money safe and secure.

Personal items

Personal items such as certificates, letters and family photos from the past are precious and irreplaceable. The best way to reduce the risk of them being stolen or damaged is to keep them in a room safe.

Medication

If you or a member of your family are taking medication, you’ll want to keep it securely out of reach. This is especially important if there are children in the house.

Where would I put it?

You’ll need to consider a number of things when deciding where to put a room safe. If you’re storing important documents, you’ll want to keep them safe from any potential water damage, such as in an upstairs bedroom.

Your bedroom may also be a good choice if your safe contains personal possessions or family heirlooms. You may want to keep them close, and intruders are less likely to enter an occupied room at night.

It’s best to avoid areas like garages or outbuildings. They’re often less secure, and more likely to be damaged by flood or fire.

The key benefits

One of the main benefits of installing a home safe is peace of mind. Knowing your irreplaceable items are as safe as they can be means you can be rest assured. Plus, if you need to find something important quickly, you know exactly where it is.

A room safe is an investment that can add monetary value to your home. In addition, the cost of replacing destroyed or stolen items can be significant. Installing a home safe is often a more cost-effective option.

Keeping Your Business Documents ‘Safe’ From Fire

One of the most devastating things that can happen to your business is loss from natural disasters, especially from fire. According to the UK Home Office, there were 11,182 fires attended at non-domestic properties in 2019 alone. That is why it is vital to invest in a fireproof safe to protect your documents, data and business. So, what are the potential fire risks to your business and how can fireproof safes help? Let us look at some of the hazards that you can find in the workplace today.

Potential Fire Hazards in The Workplace

Fireproof Safe

Fire risks can come from several sources in the workplace. Here are a few to watch out for:

Faulty electronics

Wherever you go in the office, any piece of electronic equipment can be a potential fire risk. Computers, printers, fans, and even food processing equipment like microwaves and toasters can be a possible hazard. Any loose wires or internal faults could spark a fire, so it is vital that you check your equipment regularly.

Human Error

Accidents in the workplace happen all the time, and sometimes these can turn into full-blown disasters. Leaving a piece of equipment on for too long or misusing it in some way could be the spark that starts a workplace fire. It is vital that all staff comply with health and safety procedures to protect their workplace, themselves and fellow workers.

Flammable material

While flammable materials may not be the cause of a fire, they will help spread it. Such materials include paper, certain liquids and aerosols, wooden furniture, and so on. All of these things can cause a small fire to turn quickly into a blaze.

Benefits of Having a Fireproof Safe

While it is vital to find ways to minimise risks in the workplace, one important investment to make is a fireproof safe. Installing a fireproof safe will provide the following benefits:

Heat resistant

These safes can withstand extreme heat from between 30 and 120 minutes, depending on the type of safe. They can also add protection against smoke damage to your items.

Highly Durable

These safes are strength tested so that if they fall through any floors, the contents will remain undamaged.

Waterproof

In addition to being fireproof, these safes will protect the contents from water damage.

Multiple Locking Features

In case of a fire these safes need to be able to lock shut quickly and efficiently. As such, they come with several locking options including key locks, electronic locks, and more.

Electromagnetic Protection

The safes are made from materials that ensure the safe and its contents are protected from forces such as electromagnetic fields and static electricity.

Meet The World’s Highest Security Vaults: Modern Designs and Installation

Today’s vaults are more than just fortified rooms – they are engineered with cutting-edge materials, biometric access, and advanced monitoring systems to protect high-value assets. From corporate headquarters to high-security banking facilities, modern vaults combine strength, compliance, and smart technology, ensuring your valuables are safeguarded to the latest industry standards.

Vaults have evolved far beyond the massive steel doors and concrete-lined rooms of the past. Today’s high-security vaults combine:

  • Advanced materials
  • Cutting-edge technology
  • Intelligent design

Vaults protect assets ranging from cash and documents to sensitive digital media and rare collections. For enthusiasts, modern vaults offer a fascinating glimpse into engineering and security innovation. For businesses, they provide practical, compliant solutions for installation, relocation, or removal needs.

Security Vaults - Install Vaults

Advanced Materials and Structural Design

Modern vaults are engineered using multi-layered steel, reinforced concrete, and composite panels to resist physical attacks, fire, and water damage. Many feature lightweight modular designs, allowing secure yet flexible configurations that can fit within existing commercial or banking facilities. Engineers now consider not only strength but also ease of access for authorised personnel, balancing security with operational efficiency.

Cutting-Edge Locking and Access Systems

High-security vaults today incorporate biometric authentication, electronic keypads, RFID access, and time-delay locks. Multi-factor systems combine physical keys with digital credentials, creating layers of protection that are extremely difficult to bypass. Some vaults even include remote monitoring and alarm integration, allowing security teams to receive instant alerts of unauthorised access attempts, environmental threats, or system malfunctions.

For businesses, this means vaults aren’t just “rooms that lock”, they are fully managed, secure environments integrated with broader facility security protocols.

Fire, Water, and Environmental Protection

Modern vaults are designed to withstand environmental threats. Fireproofing standards ensure documents, electronics, and valuables survive extreme temperatures, while water and flood resistance protect against plumbing failures or external flooding. Many vaults include climate-controlled interiors, making them ideal for archival storage, rare collectibles, or sensitive corporate data.

Installation, Relocation, and Removal Considerations

Whether installing a new vault or removing an existing one, the process requires expert planning and execution. Vaults are heavy, complex, and must be handled in compliance with British and European security regulations. Modern modular designs make installation more efficient, but removal or relocation requires careful dismantling, transportation, and reassembly — all while maintaining the integrity of the vault’s security features.

Businesses benefit from working with specialist teams like Trident, who provide end-to-end project management:

  • Risk assessment and planning
  • Safe dismantling or installation
  • Compliance with security and building standards
  • Minimal disruption to business operations

A Glimpse into Technology

Modern vaults offer incredible insights into design innovation and technological sophistication. From biometric locking mechanisms to high-resistance steel composites, each vault represents a combination of engineering, security, and strategy. Observing these systems in action demonstrates how the field has evolved from purely physical fortifications to highly intelligent, multi-layered security solutions.

Whether you are a business planning a new vault installation, need to relocate an existing vault, or require secure removal services, Trident delivers expert solutions with full compliance, safety, and efficiency. Learn more about our vault installation and dismantling services and discover how modern vault technology can safeguard your most valuable assets.

For readers fascinated by extreme vault security, you can also explore our detailed look at the most secure vault in the world, where we examine some of the most impenetrable high-security vaults ever constructed and the engineering that keeps them secure.

The Advantages of a Bespoke Safe

If you own valuables that you care about, investing in a bespoke safe is not only advisable, but essential. There is a wide range of luxury safes on the market and searching for the right one can be confusing; even more so if you’re thinking of having a safe custom made to fit your premises. You need to know that the safe will offer secure protection, but you also want it designed to be unobtrusive and to blend with your existing décor.

Here at Trident Safes we have a wealth of experience in the supply of bespoke safe solutions. Read our simple guide to choosing a safe below:

Choosing the right safe

Choosing a Bespoke Safe

There are numerous safe suppliers in the UK and elsewhere, but there are several things to consider before purchasing a bespoke safe. An important factor is the cash rating of a safe. This relates to the level of value your insurance provider will cover in the event of a theft. A reputable supplier of luxury safes, such as Trident Safes, can offer expert advice on this aspect of security. Safe boxes are available in a wide range of sizes and it’s important to know how big it needs to be. Assess what you intend to keep in it, then preferably choose a size larger than the one you think you need.

Safes are available in differing designs depending on the intended use, from a small jewellery safe to freestanding and fire-resistant safes. Identifying what type of safe you need will allow you to better focus your search. One of the key elements of a safe is the lock, and there are many different types on the market. The most common are combination locks, dial locks with a PIN code and biometric locks. A factor worth noting is that it’s more difficult to change the number on a combination lock than on an electronic lock.

The bespoke option

There are circumstances where an ‘off the peg’ safe is simply not practical, and only a bespoke safe custom designed to fit a specific space will do.
